W tym miesiącu w Bibliotece pojawiły się nowości:

 

The Creative Impulse by W.Somerset Maugham

 

In this collection Maugham writes about three very different people in English settings. In „Creative Impulse,” Mrs. Albert Forrester is a writer. She is also a cold and selfish woman. When her way of life changes, Mrs. Forrester discovers the creative impulse for her next successful book. „The Round Dozen” is set in a seaside town. Maugham watches how a strange, quiet man achieves his lifetime ambition. „Jane,” the title and protagonist of the last story, is a plain, middle-aged woman. Her quiet life changes when she meets a poor and handsome young man.

 

The Man of Property by John Galsworthy

         The most prized item in Soames Forsyte’s collection of beautiful things is his wife, the enigmatic Irene. But when she falls in love with Bosinney, a penniless architect who utterly rejects the Forsyte values, their affair touches off a series of events which can only end in disgrace and disaster. John Galsworthy tackles his theme of the demise of the upper-middle classes with irony and compassion.
